Shackleton Estate Shiraz is a smooth yet full flavoured wine. Fermented and oaked at our Margaret River facilities, we take absolute care and work meticulously to ensure that only the very best of Shiraz wines are produced. A delicate and well structured Shiraz wine with a sense of deep plum fruits while also holding a spice likened to that of Juniper berries, the time spent in French and American oaks imparts a nuance of cedar and vanillin on this beautiful wine. Our Shiraz is smooth and velvety hitting any palate with its lush flavour without being outrageous. Savoury earthy tones deepen this vintage, with fresh acidity and dry, structured tannins.
Our current vintage on offer is from 2011, our Shiraz grapes are grown in tough gravelly soils at shallow depths to reduce. This helps reduce the inherent vigour often found in Shiraz grapes and ensures exceptionally pure and concentrated fruit. By thinning the crop to only one bunch per shoot we improve palate weight and structure in the finished Shiraz wines. Resulting in a rich and concentrated wine, full of ripe fruity flavours and fine, silky tannins. This Shiraz is capable of being cellared for 5+ years and smoothens over this aging period.
Our Shiraz is the Estate’s pride and joy, tended to year round with a love unseen throughout other winemakers. This vintage is best served with rich foods, and is perfect with any prime steak or used within rich and velvety and sauces. We at Shackleton Estate, adore this delicious wine, and we’re certain our visitors will too.
