At Shackleton Estate we’re extremely pleased to present you with our newest vintage Merlot. Our Merlot is a rich and riper style of Merlot without being overly alcohol dominant. This is a fragrant, full bodied wine with aromas of ripe plum and leafy tobacco that meshes perfectly with the spicy French oak flavours. Merlot’s silky, fine grained tannins combine charmingly with its strong fruity characters.

This wine will mature well over a period of 5-8 years and will refine itself with age. We barrel this vintage for 15 months in 60% new French barrels (barriques) to give the wine a strong oaky finish.

We are happy to be able to extend to you the rich flavour that is our Merlot. We suggest enjoying it with red meats and strong flavours to compliment the rich flavours and velvet textures of this wine.
